This could potentially result in the imposition of additional tariffs on that industry.

The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has recently published a notice detailing the updates concerning the implementation of reciprocal tariffs, which explicitly enumerates a list of exemptions that includes certain electronic products, such as computers, smartphones, and semiconductor chips.

On the second of this month, former President Trump announced the imposition of reciprocal tariffs ranging from 11% to 50% on goods imported from specific countries, along with a uniform tariff set at 10% applicable to all imported goods. Initially scheduled to take effect on the ninth, the reciprocal tariffs have been postponed for a duration of 90 days; however, the uniform 10% tariff was officially implemented on the fifth, while tariffs on imports from China have been significantly escalated to 125%.

Reuters highlights that the exemptions granted by the Trump administration contribute to the removal of the 10% reciprocal tariff on specific electronic products. This development aids in diminishing costs for semiconductors imported from Taiwan and products such as the Apple iPhone that are manufactured in India.

However, officials from the White House have indicated that this exemption does not extend to the 125% tariffs imposed on goods exported from China. At present, the United States continues to uphold a 20% tariff on goods related to fentanyl originating from China.

It is estimated by analysts that, despite the United States imposing a reduced tariff of 54% on Chinese goods, the price of new Apple iPhones may increase from the current amount of $1,599 to approximately $2,300. Economists and market analysts widely hold the view that, given the context of the exceptionally high tariffs at 125%, trade relations between the United States and China are likely to be considerably constrained, potentially reaching a complete standstill.

On Friday, former President Trump articulated in a media interview that he does not harbour concerns regarding the elevated tariffs imposed on China. He stated that he maintains a favourable relationship with Chinese President Xi Jinping and holds the belief that this trade conflict will ultimately yield positive outcomes.

The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has recently published a notice detailing the updates concerning the implementation of reciprocal tariffs, which explicitly enumerates a list of exemptions that includes certain electronic products, such as computers, smartphones, and semiconductor chips.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

9

post-54","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
["GET
