According to reports from international media, Ms. Hobhouse indicated that upon her arrival in Hong Kong, she was detained at the airport and was immediately scheduled to board the next return flight to the United Kingdom, without being provided any specific reasons for her denial of entry. Her husband was permitted to enter; however, he opted to accompany her on her return. Ms. Hobhouse expressed her shock and profound sadness, stating, “I am shocked and extremely saddened. I simply wished to embrace my grandson, but I was unjustly deprived of that right without any explanation. It is truly inhumane.” She further noted that she is the first British Member of Parliament to be denied entry into Hong Kong since 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hobhouse serves as a member of the “Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China” (IPAC), an organisation that systematically evaluates China’s human rights record and brings together over 40 parliamentarians from diverse nations.
