China is never your run-of-the-mill country with an average rise in an organic way. Chinese rise into prominence is from Design, not luck.
We all know what happened in 1989. The sanctions lasted for only 3 years. Afterwards, countries all rushed to invest in China and it eventually joined the WTO in 2001. Up to now, China is still listed under “Developing Countries” and is not compliant of the WTO obligations in a meaningful way.
The Design is the only explanation.
The first question I do like to ask is why was it that the entire world flocked to China at the same time? Chinese and Mandarin were not even the simplest language to learn. There were a lot of talents who could definitely help open the industries in other Asian countries where labours are cheaper even to this day. But China had to become the world’s factory. Europe and the USA mutilated themselves to deindustrialise and moved all the industrial powers to China. But for some reasons, they were not actually moving to other Asian countries with accessible roads and ports (China is mostly inland) with an easier linguistic barrier due to former colonial times.
The Design is the only explanation.
And the big picture reads that China simply has enjoyed a one-sided benefit from a coordinated effort from the entire developed world in favour to other alternatives. For years it has benefitted from the growing economy that funds were flowing in and opportunities were open everywhere. The general people did not really need to struggle much and the businesses were already blooming. Chinese economy did not require actual challenging management so the policies were always detrimental, like imposing random laws and regulations, and the industries were still running on the train.
Hong Kong serves as a front for the west to stage their investments into China.
My verdict is that if any other Asian country has enjoyed the same benefits and coordinated efforts from the entire world, that country would have overtaken even more advanced countries like Japan, Korea and Singapore.
The Design is the only explanation.
Everything changed after the Hong Kong protests in 2019, the Covid in 2020, and the National Security Law in Hong Kong in the same year.
In this new era, the entire civilisation is screaming decoupling. The Great Reset proposed by the World Economic Forum may also have contributed to that. China no longer has the same strength of backing from the one-sided skewed benefits.
The other challange is how this country rose to prominence without much efforts due to its spoonfed experience. When the backing has vanished, no one in the entire cabinet knows how to manage such an economy. It isn’t just a question of competency, but a question of already in deep structural debt due to how effortless the rise has been.
But Chinese coffers are deep. It will survive for a long time, as it is its policy to cannibalise its own rich people to fund the national efforts.
We will never know where things will head in the future. By natural phenomena, China is doomed. But the Design may yet find a use for China and will be able to influence the world in ways so artificial and bruteforce that history changes it cause in pivotal moments.
Will the Design do so? I don’t think so. But I also admit I will never know.
