跟不少三十歲到四十歲的香港人一樣，我們是經歷香港衰落的一代。
八零年代出生的香港人，經歷九七移民潮，九七金融風暴，零三沙士，零八金融海嘯，一四年佔中，我們都從懵懂小孩成長到認識到要守護核心價值的青年人。一直我們都堅信民主總會來臨到香港這片土地，直到一九反送中，國家安全法把人民滅聲後，我們不得不選擇離開那片熟悉的土地，投向曾是我們宗主國的懷抱。
在我們這世代，中國大陸對港政策比英治時期香港更像殖民者。我們沒有經歷華人與狗不得內進的時代，出生時已經有廉政公署，見證華人女性陳方安生可以出任重要公職政務司司長一職。那時代的美好，就是殖民地不再有殖民地那種卑微，更加多的是準備迎向擁抱民主，自由，公義的一個時代。
也許一切似乎都唾手可得，沒有如法國大革命般的犧牲才得來的自由民主，沒有成本換來的自由，就沒有要守護的念頭。害怕共產黨的一群就早早準備好了，九七移民潮也隨之而來。更可怕的是，手握著自由國家的護照的那群人，九七後隨著表面的繁華帶來的機遇，他們藉由出賣香港的核心價值，塗上獅子山精神作為掩飾，踩著年輕一代確保自己的收成期必定有豐盛的收穫。
Like those in their 30’s and 40’s, this generation is witnessing the fall of Hong Kong.
Born in the 80’s, we witnessed the handover in 1997, the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997, the SARS pandemic in 2003, the Financial Crisis in 2008 and Occupy Central in 2014. We thought we have grown up, from an ignorant little kid to a well educated adult who treasures our core values. It was until 2019, after the massive protest in Hong Kong and the legislation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, when we had no alternative but to leave our home and fled to the UK, our sovereign state three decades ago.
We belong to the era when the CCP treated Hong Kong just like a colony, even more than our colonial time. We never experienced the time when Chinese and dogs were not welcome, the Independent Commission Against Corruption was already established when we were born, we witnessed Anson Chan became the first female Chief Secretary.Those were the good old days when a colony no longer feel like one and people believed in democracy, freedom and justice.
Maybe it all came too easily. We did not need to sacrifice for freedom like during the French Revolution, so we were not determined to defend it. Those who had no trust in the CCP were well prepared, and they all left our motherland in 1997. Worse still, those who had foreign citizenship were also those who strived to ensure they would profit from the economic opportunities after the handover of sovereignty, at the cost of the core values of our home and the future of the younger generations.

Outside of his professional commitments, Henry Wong enjoys sports and is a goalkeeper for an amateur football team. He also possesses a passion for wine, possesses a deep understanding of various types of alcoholic beverages, and is skilled in making cocktail.
